Library Rules


Library Entry and Services are restricted to only to authorized members of the university with valid Institutional ID.

Other visitors need to take permission from the Library.

Internet Access and E-Resources are restricted to only to authorized members of the university.

Corporate and Institutional Membership


Corporate Membership: Industrial organizations may become members by paying ₹10,000/year. They may borrow up to 10 books with ₹1,000 deposit/book.

Institutional Membership: Educational institutions may become members by paying ₹10,000/year. They may borrow up to 10 books at a time.

Library Discipline


  • A person desirous of using the Library shall enter his/her name, Department and time of entry legibly and put signature in the register kept at the appropriate section’s entrance for the purpose.
  • Silence shall be maintained as far as possible in the Library.
  • Strict decorum and discipline must be maintained in the Library. Users must ensure that rights of other users of the Library are not breached in anyway.
  • Smoking, eating, sleeping and talking loudly are strictly prohibited in the Library.
  • Readers must present their Reader’s Card or University Card for inspection if requested.
  • Non-members can use library materials with prior permission from the University Librarian.
  • Readers must not bring sticks, umbrellas, briefcases, etc., into the Library. Use the property counter.
  • Documents taken from shelves must be left on tables. Don’t re-shelve books yourself.
  • Library reserves the right to inspect anything brought into the building.
  • Library staff may stop any activity that harms library property or its users.

Loan Privilege (Rules relating to borrowing of books)


  • 2 books for students (2 weeks), 5 for research scholars (30 days), 10 for faculty (1 year).
  • ID must be presented when borrowing or requesting materials.
  • Check book condition before borrowing. Report issues at the circulation counter.
  • Books can be recalled anytime by the Library without prior notice.
  • Late return fee is ₹2/day/book.
  • Books may be reissued only twice.
  • Reference materials and journals are not issued. Overnight issue allowed with ₹5/day late fee.
  • Borrowers are responsible for safe return of documents.

Rules relating to loss of book

If a book is lost, report immediately. One month is given to find and return it. If not returned, a fine of ₹5/day will be charged. If not replaceable, pay 4 times the book cost (min ₹500). Photocopies not accepted.
